Binge eating is the uncontrollable urge to eat in times of stress, high anxiety or boredom or in response to overwhelming emotions and is a common reason for weight gain. Although it is common to binge eat when experiencing negative emotions, often people binge eat in response to happiness or contentment too! When celebrating for example! For many, the reasons as to why they binge eat or overeat will not be at all obvious, instead they simply experience the overwhelming urge to binge eat or overeat for no apparent reason.
Often a person who binge eats will eat far beyond the point of feeling uncomfortable. This then leads to feelings of self-loathing, anxiety, embarrassment and feelings of being out of control and unable to cope. And of course the inevitable weight gain, increased risk of diabetes and poor health.*
The reason that most diets don’t work is that they fail to address the underlying issues as to why you overeat in the first place, but through the use of Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy we able to address the underlying issues that lead to the urge to overeat or binge eat in the first place, breaking the overeating or binge cycle and putting you back in control of your eating habits.
